The Company
Monsalmó, established in 1994, is a company specialising in smoked fish. Since its beginnings, it has created its products using exclusively the traditional techniques of craftsmen and has adapted its fish to customers’ requirements. Its factory and offices, located in Olesa de Montserrat (province of Barcelona), are perfectly equipped with all the technology needed to manufacture its products to excellent quality standards in all aspects. Thanks to our employees, who have over twenty years of experience, the respect we show when handling the product and our highly demanding criteria when purchasing the raw materials, MONSALMÓ – THE KING OF SALMON, has gained great prestige within the smoked foods sector, becoming one of the manufacturers offering the highest quality and greatest professionalism on the market.
MONSALMÓ rejects any raw material of inferior quality, seeking only the best fish and manufacturing it weekly at its factory. Our company operates according to a quality control system adapted to meet self-monitoring protocols based on the Analysis of Dangers and Critical Monitoring Points System (in Spanish, the APPCC system), a tool which is vital in achieving maximum levels of food safety and hygiene. We are aided in this by external laboratories specialising in Food QA who advise us at all times regarding the possible presence of any risk(s).

Salmon
The King of Salmon for your table.
The king of smoked fish ‘par excellence’. An oily fish, Norwegian salmon is especially rich in Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, essential for the human body. This allows you to create dishes which are tasty, easy to put together, and highly nutritious. We use only superior quality Norwegian salmon, which is shipped in weekly from the Norwegian fjords and is smoked by our master smokers under the most rigorous quality control system while respecting the utter craftsmanship of our products at every stage of production. This is what distinguishes us from other manufacturers.

Serving suggestions: Let stand for 5 minutes after opening. If any is left over, wrap in plastic wrap or aluminium foil and store in the refrigerator.
Cod
Quality flavour and health for all your dishes.
Fish from the haddock family, appreciated for its white flesh. There are many types of cod, but Monsalmó only uses the one we consider to have the most exquisite meat: the Gadus Morhua. All the cod we receive comes from Iceland, whose waters give the fish the proper texture for cooking, or in our case for a light smoking that converts it into an extraordinary, high-quality product. Smoked cod has great market prestige, and given its ease of presentation on the plate and its high nutritious value, it can become an excellent ally in gourmet cooking.

Herring
A flavour with character.
An oily fish which is highly valued in northern countries. The Cuplea Harengus lives in schools in all depths of water, from just below the surface to just above the sea floor. This fish, an endless source of Omega-3 fatty acids, has firm, tender flesh and soft bones. Monsalmó selects the best specimens from Atlantic waters and lightly smokes or marinates them, so they are ready to eat. Ideal for salads, tapas, and informal dishes.

Trout
Simplicity and good taste.
Highly-considered fish from the salmon family which is served both fresh and smoked. We prepare this product just like the salmon. The trout is also farmed in accordance with established health standards.

Sturgeon
A luxury of flavours for your palate.
Extinct in Spanish rivers barely 30 years ago, this fish currently survives in some European rivers like the Garona and the Po. Our sturgeon, originally from the Caspian Sea, grows to maturity in the crystalline waters of the Valle de Arán. The lack of bones (sturgeon is a cartilaginous fish), its consistent texture, and its aftertaste of caviar have earned it the distinguished nickname “Caviar meat”. When slightly smoked and dressed with armagnac and white truffle oil, the texture and flavour of sturgeon are enhanced. A delicate fish that melts in your mouth as its original and exquisite taste is revealed: Luxurious, with a never-ending myriad of subtleties for your palate.

We can also serve fresh supremes of sturgeon. These are especially recommended marinated, grilled, as confit, or simply raw (‘sushi’).
Tuna
A seal of authenticity.
There are many varieties of this fish, though our company only uses "Thunnus Albacares", more commonly known as the yellowfin tuna, for its products. This fish belongs to the tuna family, and has a steely blue back, silver belly, and yellow fins (which is where its name originates). It is said that tuna is the beef of the sea due to its highly-valued red meat. Nutritious, healthy, and of great biological value, it contains as much protein as meat does, although unlike meat, it also contains a high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which makes it more beneficial for your health. The fish we use come from the Atlantic Ocean. We smoke them and turn them into one of our star products.

Hake
A classic with a special touch.
One of the most widely eaten whitefish in Spain and also the most representative species on the national market. Monsalmó took the innovative decision to include smoked hake in its range of smoked fish, thus introducing a previously unknown product to the consumer. Containing proteins of high biological value, it is low in fat content and rich in phosphorous, iron, and B-group vitamins. The smoking process gives this fish a special flavour which will delight even the most demanding palates. We recommend it be used in salads, with toast, and for wherever your culinary imagination may take you.

Smoked Fish Multipack
For those occasions when you need a helping hand, we have created two different sized multipacks of our smoked fish: 120 g and 150 g.
